I count myself blessed for all I have and all I’ve done. But I can also credit a lot to a resourceful spirit, an attitude of service and a persistent drive to do well. I was born in Pennsylvania, where I was on my own as a teen. I put myself through high school and then through college. After graduating from Millersville University, I hopped in a car and followed the call of the West. I landed in Phoenix where I earned an MBA from Grand Canyon University. And then I jumped into the Valley’s thriving construction industry, working my way up over the years to the post of comptroller.
After 9/11, though, I suffered a layoff, and my resilience was put to the test. That’s when I went into business for myself, starting a property inspection company that I successfully ran here in the Southwest Valley until I sold it in 2010. I bought this Allstate insurance agency the following year, building it from scratch with my unique point of view: The business isn’t the bottom line, here — the people are. And my team and I work hard to make sure customers really feel that.
That’s also why service is such an important part of what I do. I’m a big supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, serving as Assistant Scout Master for Troop 90 and working with the Firebird District committee to develop programming and events. I also volunteer with the Buckeye Police Citizens Academy, work with area schools to help kids pledge not to text and drive and support Homeless Youth Connection and their mission to keep kids in school. I really do believe that you get a lot more out of life if you give a lot!
